Recently, many colleagues and friends cannot use their own fiber optic cutting knives, so the editor has collected some methods and tips for adjusting the cutting knife that the editor knows to share with everyone.
Inno 15 fiber optic cutting knife adjustment and cleaning
1、 Adjust the rotating surface
1. Prepare M2, M3, and T10 star shaped wrenches, as well as a straight screwdriver. 2. Use the M2 wrench to remove the side protective cover. 3. Use the wrench to loosen the fixing screw at the center of the blade. 4. Slowly rotate the blade to the next scale position. 5. Use a screwdriver to tighten the fixing screw at the center of the blade and install the side protective cover
Replace the blade
2、 Adjust the rotating surface
1. Prepare M2, M3, and T10 star shaped wrenches, as well as a flathead screwdriver. 2. Use M2 wrench to remove the side protective cover. 3. Use wrench to loosen the fixing screw at the center of the blade. 4. Completely remove the fixing screw at the center. 5. Remove the blade upwards and replace it with a new blade, and fully tighten the letter fixing screw
3、 Blade height adjustment
1. Prepare M2, M3, and T10 star shaped wrenches. 2. Use M2 wrench to remove the side protective cover. 3. Use T10 wrench to loosen the fixing screw on the right side of the blade, without completely loosening it. 4. Blade height adjustment: Use M3 wrench to loosen the large height adjustment screw by 1 turn, use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten the small height adjustment screw by 1/12 turn, and then use M3 wrench to tighten the fixing screw on the right side of the blade until it is firmly fixed
4、 Clean cutting knife
1. Clean the surface of the knife holder with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. 2. Clean the precision rubber pad with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. 3. Clean the upper cover magnet with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol
4. Clean the magnet and blade of the knife holder in seconds dipped in alcohol
Sumitomo original cutting blade height adjustment method
After multiple cuts, the blade of the cutting knife will consume and the cutting surface will be damaged. If this phenomenon continues to occur, it is necessary to adjust the position of the blade edge. Please follow the steps below to turn the blade direction and use the new blade part.
1. Please use a bottle mouth screwdriver to loosen the screw that fixes the blade (the screw in the middle of the cutting blade).
2. Turn the blade to the next new blade. Press the side or tip of the blade with a cotton swab and push it outwards, making it easier to rotate the blade. Please note that when changing the position of the blade (i.e. rotating the blade), do not directly rotate the blade by hand. Turning the blade by hand may result in cuts if not careful, and it is also easy to dip the blade in oil. Do not use metal tools (tweezers, etc.) to rotate the blade. Using hard objects such as metal can easily damage the blade.
3. Tighten the fixing screw of the blade. Caution: Do not tighten the fixing screws too hard, as it may cause damage to the screws.
4. Attempt to cut the optical fiber 1 or 2 times and use the image inspection of the fusion splicer to confirm the cutting end face of the fiber. If the fiber cutting end face is poor, please adjust the height of the blade
.
Adjustment of blade height
1. Loosen the two fixing screws first. (That is, the two screws located diagonally below the fixed blade screw)
2. Loosen the screw that fixes the height of the blade (as can be seen from above, there are two screws in total, one protruding and the other recessed. Loosen the protruding screw)
3. Start adjusting the recessed screw by rotating it clockwise. If it is adjusted upwards, rotate it counterclockwise to lower it. Try to fine tune each adjustment as much as possible. After adjustment, take a 2-3 centimeter bare fiber and place it on two pressure pads without covering the pressure plate. Observe that the blade just touches it and do not push it away.
4. After adjustment, first tighten the fixing screws for the blade height, and then tighten the fixing screws for the tool holder. When tightening the screws, do not use too much force.
Adjustment method of Fujikura cutting blade
Firstly, remove the protective plate, fully push the handle forward, and use an Allen key to unscrew the symbol fixing screw
Loosen the height fixing screw with an inner hexagon (indicated by the screw in the figure below)
Rotate the height adjuster (as shown in the figure below), align the reference point with the next position (+indicates to increase the blade height, - indicates to decrease the blade height), do not rotate the adjuster beyond 2 position points, and tighten the height fixing screw and blade fixing screw after adjustment is complete
GR-27 fiber cutting knife adjustment
Make a cutting motion with the fiber optic cutting knife, and push the slider forward to see the screws that adjust the blade height, one is the locking screw and the other is the adjusting screw
Raise the blade height: First, loosen screw II counterclockwise by one eighth of a turn (i.e. turn the clock pointer from 12 o'clock to the middle position between 1 and 2), and then tighten screw III.
Reduce blade height: First, loosen screw III, then turn screw II clockwise by one eighth of a turn, and finally tighten screw III.
The above is the method for adjusting the blade. What is the appropriate shape for adjusting the blade? Take a 2-3 centimeter bare fiber with stripped coating, place it on a stainless steel pressure pad, and push the slider. The blade cannot drive the fiber, but can slightly rub against it. This is the most suitable. When your cutting blade is not bumped, it usually needs to be fine tuned.
When the cutting blade is bumped or dropped, the blade height may be abnormal and needs to be adjusted in a timely manner. You can also adjust it according to the above method, but there may be other problems due to the collision (if not, you can return to the factory for repair)
There is also a situation where the blade height has been adjusted, but the cutting is not good. In that case, it is necessary to consider rotating the cutting surface of the blade or replacing the blade. When rotating the cutting surface, remember not to use too much force to tighten it, just lock it. If the adjustment is still not good, you need to check if there is any dirt on the cracking hammer under the pressure plate that causes insufficient elasticity, and use an alcohol swab to wipe it.
Precautions for GR-27 Fiber Cutting Knife
Firstly, adjust the height of the fiber optic cutting knife
These two screws, the protruding screw is fine, but the recessed screw is not so easy to get along with. Some of the repair cutters may have pulled out the screw directly due to improper force. What should we do? I hope everyone can take this as a warning.
Secondly, fix the blade screw of the fiber optic cutting knife
I believe everyone often encounters this screw when replacing the blade. It is a screw that fixes the blade and can be easily removed, but when tightened, there may be a problem. Some workers may have a lot of force on their hands, so the screw slips. This screw doesn't require too much force, just tighten it, don't apply too much force.
Thirdly, the fiber optic cutting knife slide rail screw
There's nothing more to say about this screw. I never said that this screw can be moved (covering my face), just move it and restore it to its original state, but unfortunately, it's slipping again.
Fourth, the cracking hammer
Once, the editor heard that a colleague's cutting knife automatically returned to its original position without cutting, and it turned out that the cracking hammer on top was broken. This is actually not difficult to understand. When you don't use a cutting knife, don't push the handle in. When you push it in, this cracking hammer is difficult. Cracking hammers are small things that will break over time.
